Phew! It's been one - more - day.
Bella and I played around this morning, enjoying the warm sunshine and partly cloudy skies. The floodgates let loose, though, around 3 p.m. We got one hell of a thunderstorm. It was so bad that the roads all looked like rivers and the road on which we live was closed due to MUDSLIDES. I had to take a back route to work, thus getting there 20 minutes late. (Good thing that we don't punch a timeclock.)
Once at work, I found out that I missed seeing a co-worker's new baby by only a few minutes. Rebecca's baby boy was born at the end of May and I have yet to meet little Vaughn thanks to colds and such in my house. Rebecca brought Vaughn to the paper this afternoon and they left right before I made my late appearance.
My department later ordered dinner from McAlister's Deli. I made the mistake of getting a large sweet tea. With a full bladder on deadline, I ran into the women's restroom to find an overweight male janitor standing on one of the toliets.... VACUUMING THE CEILING. ?!?!?!?! I had to run down the hall to the stairs, down a flight of stairs and to the first-floor bathrooms without peeing on myself.
Geesh. With the day going like this, I'll need one of those yummy mudslide bar drinks as a nightcap. Too bad "the gang" doesn't hang at Connelly's anymore.
To top it all off, I made chicken parmesan for Andy. (No, not that crap from a mix or box. I mean real, down-home, from-scratch chicken parmesan.) Since I am bound and determined to finally lose this damned baby weight, I left that cheesy, gift-from-the-gods dish for Andy. (Oh, how I love cheese...)
It's amazing how much marriage and pregnancy changes at person. Example, the two photos below are of me PRE-BELLA at 117 pounds...
(L-R, Christine Handog, Fr. Chris Smith, ME, and Andy)
("swinging" in St. Augustine, Fla.)
And POST BELLA at 149 pounds:
(check out that arm fat... YIKES!)
Goodness. My jogging regime is making a come-back, as are pilates and a strict vegetarian diet full of fresh fruits, veggies and plenty of water. I'm gonna look good this Fall. (Can we say french maid Halloweeen costume? LOL, kidding...)
As I say that, I am also making plans to fix a chocolate cheesecake when I get home from work tonight. Now that's some great diet food, LOL. It's awesome (and you don't have to bake it!) Email me if you'd like the yummy-yet-simple recipe. Mmmmmm....
Well, I've got to get some work done... more tomorrow night.
