I put in for Friday, Nov. 21st off months and months ago ... right after Warner Bros. released the U.S. release of movie six in the series. Since our IMAX theater went under, I will make the two-hour drive to the nearest city with an IMAX to see the movie. Will I take Bella the go 'round? Dunno. I took her with me to see "Order of the Phoenix" and she loved it (especially the 3D wizard's duel at the end), so I think she'll like this one, too. In my opinion, OotP was scarier, with the dementor attack at the beginning, but we'll see.
I really am looking forward to this movie. Although Sirius is now dead (which means no Gary Oldman), the book really was good. I called the ending long before the book was released, but it was still good ... and the climactic scene on the astronomy tower was tear-jerking (ask Terri! ). It should look excellent on screen.
I do wish that upon the death of Richard Harris (who was a brilliant Dumbledore), that Warner Bros. had gone with either Anthony Hopkins or Peter O'Toole to carry on the role of the headmasater. Really ... the way the Michael Gambon portrays Dumbledore is waaayyyyy off!
Why am I thinking Potter today? Well, it seems that a teaster trailer will FINALLY hit the theaters on Aug. 1, running before "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor." I really like the first two movies in this series, so I might sneak off during lunch on the 1st to see this one too (although Rachel Weis is not in it).
The sad part is that the series is winding down ... while there is only one book left, its movie will be a two parter. YAY! It's sad ... really. Through seven books you become a friend to Harry and the trio, you root him on in his mission to defeat evil in his world, you sneer at Draco, Lucius, and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Harry isn't a super hero, either. He's just like you and me ... he has his good moments and his not-to-good moments, he makes decisions that are good and bad, he is, well, human! And, once you read the series, you realize that people like Laura Mallory and David Hadden are nothing more than a group of morons. (Read the books, people!)
Anyway, I've got to run. I want to play with the kiddo, mow the lawn, and finish cleaning the play room before it's time to start getting ready for work.
Now, just one other thing ... how do I get a countdown clock like the one on MuggleNet.com?
